Saint Nicholas Russian Othodox Church in Stratford Ct is built in the 12th Century Novgorod style. The roofs are topped with representations of holy candle flames, both architecturally, and artistically. The holy flames extend into the spring trees and onto the ground, as if everything is aglow and alive. My grandmother would walk from our house to this church every Sunday. Please note the family at the foot of the steps at the entrance. I always loved the ancient shape of this Church and its holy flames.
